According to data provided by the International Agency for Research on Cancer:
Children and Oncology in Ukraine.
Every year in Ukraine 11-12 children per 100 thousand develops tumors (under 18 years),
which is about 1,000 children with cancer each year.
Malignant tumors in childhood take the 7th place of children’s disability.
Ukraine has the 5th highest percentage of children’s deaths from malignant neoplasms in Europe ( 5 cases per 100 thousand)
In 2008, for children under 17 years of age, the most common diseases were leukemia and brain cancer – 49.1% ( boys ) and 43.1% ( girls ).
7 out of 10 children with cancer, in theory, can be cured.
However, in this country, according to the statistics from 2007, only 47% of children recover.
As a result of each year hundreds of young patients die because they do not receive the care needed to be successfully treated. Experience shows that there is no big difference between Ukraine’s and the rest of European’s therapy, but only if the treatment is fully reproduced.
